Jan 5, 2011I have had the switch for about 2 years and recently moved. The manual specifies:
38400 bps and 8-n-1 serial port settings using DB9F to DB9F cable.
I have done this and tried using multiple machines/ports/cables as well as several peices of software (minicom, PuTTy, hyperterminal) and none give me any output from the switch at all.
The trouble is that in its original config, it had 1 port locked into its own VLAN for management with port security and an obscure RFC1918 IP address which I cannot recall for the life of me.
At this point, I have no access to TCP/IP management so serial console is my last hope and is not working.

Mar 22, 2013Im trying to recover the password from my stacked switchs(doing procedure on master switch),im following a guide i have read in this forum('SRW248G4 V1.1 unable to reset password'), at console terminal have chosen 'password Recovery' it prompts the 'current password will be ignored' and then i hit 'Escape' the switch start loading de configuration, at this point i attempt to login from telnet or http but the login fails.
Here is the password/username combo im using (admin/blank ; admin/admin). Is it possible to restore admin password or should i just hardware reset the switchs?

Mar 13, 2011I did RECOVERY on my computer. Its a Compac Windows XP Home edition. This computer runs off of my main computer by a router & adapter. My router & adaptor are showing green but the Internet is showing red. Its becuz my high speed Internat service is ATT.my.yahoo.com. which comes through IE. On my newer computer all is fine. My IE works good & all is working. but my IE on my older one which runs with the router wont set up.

Jul 27, 2011I've been having a problem with a brand new SG300-10 switch that I posted about yesterday. I checked the firmware and it was at 1.0.0.27 and the lastest is 1.1.0.73. So I backed up the current firmware and loaded the 1.1.0.73 version and it seem to be CLI based only, with no web GUI.
If so is there an easy way to reload the 1.0.0.27 using the CLI? There is nothing in the CLI docs that I can see unless it's buried.
The release notes for 1.1.0.73 don't say it's CLI only either, maybe something just went wrong but the CLI seems to be functional.

The attached file contains a full output of the console boot process. I have tried loading different versions from the console, but all produce the same error.

Aug 6, 2011I have just downloaded new software for sge2010p. I had tried to made an upgrade on some switches, but switches still boot with the old software.I have installed software 3.0.0.18 and boot 2.0.0.03. I have downloaded software 3.0.1 from cisco, put it on tftp and started an upgrade via switch web interface. I have checked that the active image is set to 1, and started the upgrade.Switch has downloaded soft from tftp, and reported that process has been finished without errors.After the restart switch have 3.0.0.18 software again. I have try to do this same on 4 different switches working in L3 and L2 mode - always with the same effect.Should I upgrade both images in the same time to get this work?
I have noticed, that the new firmware is located on image 2.

Oct 7, 2012Using the SGE 2010 for Microsoft NAP with 802.1x auth for switch access, which led to a few issues
What i have: An SGE 2010 48 port switch, firmware 3.0.0.17 Firmware upgrade: In order to ensure im not having problems due to old firmware, i tried to upgrade using ros_ls1_bp_ge_bx-3020.ros in order to move to 3.0.2, when uploading the file via TFTP, the upload completes and thats it, nothing happens.Restarting the device: As part of the upgrade process, i thought i might of had to reboot, so i rebooted, and found that all my settings were wiped clean, as if a factory reset had been performed.. and add further to pain, the backup of settings that i had taken do not seem to want to re-apply.NAP support: So i have tested my NPS (radius) server with NTRadping.exe and all is good, however i cannot get the SGE2010 to talk to it.. the authenticator state in the web interface is always listed as initialising.. im not sure if this is a simple incompatibility (hence the attempt at a firmware upgrade), a tag that needs to be set on the radius side or a switch misconfig.
1) how on earth do you upgrade the firmware?
2) why are none of my settings being saved when the device reboots ?

As far as i understand all the stacked switches should have the same IOS, i may be wrong. The switches have the following model numbers and SW images;
